Test Texturing
I was playing around with window materials and I think this result is the most successful.
This has an awesome reflective look which I love. This is where the camera enters the building and will look great in the final.

Camera
My model isn't complete yet so ignore the camera going into the building and nothing is there... The lighting is also a draft.
This is a rough camera draft.

Shortening the Script to fit within 30 Seconds
New Script:
Glastonbury Abbey is in Somerset, England. Glastonbury was one of the richest monasteries of England by the 14th century due to its income of pilgrims. However, Henry VIII began the dissolution of the monasteries in 1536 and in 1539 Henry VIII closed Glastonbury Abbey. Richard Whiting, the last Abbot of Glastonbury refused to surrender the Abbey and remained loyal to the Pope. For this, Henry had him hung, drawn and quartered as a traitor, along with two other monks.
New Timing
Ignore my awesome accent... I just did this for timing.

Calligraphy Research
For the capital 'E' of 'England' I want it do be that big, elaborate style with patterns around it. I found some examples I'm looking into:
Body Text Examples:
Researching Information for Map Development
My father does Calligraphy so I am getting him to complete the writing on my map of Somerset. I will do the little drawings of the buildings on the map.
I research on Google maps what Somerset looks like now. I then clicked on the surrounding places and checked when they were built. Since my map will be drawn as if its from the 1500s, I will draw in the buildings that were definitely around then. These buildings and places include:

- George Hotel
- Chalice Well
- Tor (Tor is the most important as that is where the Abbot and two monks where hung by Henry VIII - its part of my storyboard)
Map Reference:
This map has portraits in it. I love the idea of this. I will research into this idea further and if King of the country's map was sometimes drawn in there, then I will do this too. I will draw Henry VIII.
There is text on the top and bottom of this map. Because it is in another language I don't know what it says. If it is something that could relate to my story, then I will put this in the map too.
Rough Plan:
It looks quite empty at the moment but it will have a textured background and small details like trees and hills etc.

Tester Texturing
For the smaller, more detailed parts of the building, I'm not texturing them but applying a coloured Lambert material that is similar to the brick colours. This is not the final colour. It will match the brickwork.
For the windows I am using a separate object. I will texture it subtly, use a reflective material on it and make it slightly transparent to give it a window effect. This test was done with phong material, white colour and lower transparency.

New Aesthetic Ideas
After talking with Tanya, I decided to have more 2D aspects within my 3D project.
Aesthetic Ideas:
Aesthetic Ideas:
- Sketchy lines over top of the 3D animation
- Layers
- Paint like effects
- Colour alterations
- Heavily paint based
- Stop motion like movement
- Water and ink based
- Smooth movement
- Two toned
- I might use this style for the map intro

Modelling Process Cont.
It looks like a cross. Maybe that is how the monks wanted it, considering it was a monastery after all.
Yay! Starting to get there!
